Sandy Hook, MB | Hello All
80% calved in the first 21 days. Only 1 two day old calf died, that was born during a 30 hr rain at just above freezing, that I found in the mud & water. Not sure if this was the contributing factor in it's death, or just 1 of the possible many factors??? Not a good sign this morning starting out the second cycle though, I found the kind of calf that I hate, a big, dead bull calf this morning. I prefer small, live calves. Oh well, she did push it out on her own, at least no vet bill.
My first born.
Cow that I had saved earlier on when she rolled on her back. Every time that I go check on them, I tell her to make sure that she keeps her feet under her, or else I'll have to get the tractor & pull her over again. I can tell that she's thankful that I saved her life. Well hers & her calf's. She calved yesterday morning, so I saved 2 lives that day.
Close up of calf.
Close up of cow.
1 of the tan/white face calves from a Black Baldie cow.
Some silver calves.
It kind of looks like I've got every colour under the rainbow in my herd now. But I do have a breeding plan, they're not mongrels.
Pair. These pics were taken on the 14th.
