Northern KS
I have a question that has bugged me so here goes.........I am moving to May/June calving but bought these pairs(4 yr old +cows) last year and found out they were already bred so thought I could surely get by one year calving early. So go out the other night and cow is having problems calving. We pulled the calf and it was BIG. Didn't weigh it but she couldn't have had it by herself.
Thoughts on would this cow have had issues if she had calved in May or June???
I have fed little hay to them all fall/winter. Been grazing on a cover crop that has had little moisture to grow all fall/winter.
