Ontario's middle east
In Ontario, we are required by law to advance 60% of the grain value within 5 trading days of delivery on DP. It seems in the US that some areas do advance and some areas don't. It depends on the circumstance, but in the case of an inverted market the elevator can easily afford an advance because they got a 100% advance.......they sold your crop and are long futures in its place. They do want the basis exposure in this case because they suspect the basis will follow the spreads.
