Use the same way here. Set bales around the edge to hold the tarp down then shred a good layer on. So long as the wind doesn't blow for a few days it makes a good thatch that stands up for several years. Quite literally. (Well I know 6 years is no problem, unless 400 yearlings start dancing on it. But I don't know what could help that.)
Keeps the coyotes from digging through the poly. We seem to have less problems with mice when the tarp is covered vs bare. Can't explain why.
Maybe around 6" frozen on top. | |
