If you trust he can do a good job, send him the cattle and pay the feed bill and yardage, just like you would at a commercial yard, that's the only fair deal. I would never custom feed on a gain basis, a real good way for the guy feeding to get screwed, if the cattle aren't quality they wont gain, if the weather really sucks they wont gain, and all he does is use up his feed and not make any money. You want both parties make it work, if you don't and are only looking out for number 1, I wouldn't want to feed for you anyways. Seen way to many guys get screwed on a gain basis, why I would never do it. Good luck!
