You do realize that with share cropping( 50/50) the land owner pays half the inputs right?
So what's that amount to....$125? $85 seed, $130 fert, $15 spray, $20 misc??? I would rather have cash rent.
How about the first figure I ran....good average for our area.
165 yield @ $4.50 bu.
Cash rent at 33% $245
50/50 $371 in grain lost
Net/Net $126
82 bushels you will never gain or lose money on. 82 bushels that could be 100 in a good year. I choose to protect the down side on the 82 bu. with crop ins. not 50/50 that looks fair to both parties on good/bad year. It worked when we didn't have crop ins. very well. Both sides assumed some risk. |
