S Illinois | I have a couple of theories as to why on-farm percentage is lower than normal. The amount of old crop corn carried over on-farm was extremely small last year. It was 200 to 300 million bushels smaller than normal. This amount is normally carried through the year, so that amount was missing. Also the southern production areas produced a higher amount of total production than normal. These areas are quicker to put corn into commercial hands than further north producers. | |
