The USDA reporting service is broken. When a lowly wheat farmer in Kansas with a computer, another in Missouri, and a third in Canada can produce more accurate numbers than the great, Almighty USDA, then something is seriously wrong. Starting at the top, the entire system needs to be broken down, torn apart, and started over. They don't need more money, they need new people, new management, and a new communications/reporting system. This is just crazy the way it works now, I swear I find the crop reports and marketing ideas on this page better than any highly paid marketing service or US government agency in business. And, that is really sad. What we have now is broken
