Attacking it at just a bit of an angle, completely takes care of the teeter-totter effect.

Ed, you nailed it. It only took me once coming out of a ditch straight on to learn a better way. After that, I nudged the wheel just before the nose came down, and the thing just layed down softly. Doing that coming off a trailer is a bit tougher, but not something you do everyday.
