NCND | I think the number to find and lease rights vary quite a bit. At one point in time I heard eog had a 22$ barrel cost. That was before they started pumping larger sand volumes but those also have increased reserves so I'm guessing roi is relatively the same.
If a companies leasehold was put together before the play got hot obviously their lease cost is much less. However on bakken when companies buy their way in it generally costs 5-10k per acre.
In the end reservoir quality will determine roi. Some shakes that were hyped are still trying to be figured out while older shakes like bakken are "figured" out and results are generally good. Noibrara has had it's hits and misses it seems and the area that is considered good is say has shrink from original estimates IMHO.
