SE MN | "These heads sound like a jet running when wound up fast." Two different Drago guys, a salesman and a service manager, said that it is important to run a Drago at 650 RPM...that is header shaft speed not input from combine. If you hear it roar like a jet it is running too fast and you will wear out the knife rolls prematurely. On my JD combine the feedrhouse jackshaft speed is approx. 520 for platform or slowest speed on variable speed (that's also the speed if you have a fixed speed drive). I have 28 tooth sprockets on the rear and 22 tooth on the front in the header oil baths and that makes it about 650 RPM. | |
