With the modern diesel pickups it doesnt really matter. They all tow plenty for most people, if you need more buy a semi, theyre cheaper anyways.

Modern diesel pickups will rot before the bottom end actually wears out. Many things around the long block may cause issues but as for the engine actually needing an overhaul most will never see it.
