I agree, diesels were not meant to be V-8s. I'd prefer an I-6 of equal displacement anyday. Way better low end.
I tend to agree until comparing our Claas with our Deere chopper. 460hp Twin parrallel Turbo V8 merc versus 480hp I6 single. Far more bottom end in the V8, now it is 3 liters bigger and many other things factor into a forage harvesters ability to pull through slugs, but it does go to show engine configuration isnt everything. |
