I am a certified thermographer. We find connections like this routinely when we do our semi-annual routes. The advantage of using an IR camera is that you find the hot spot before it results in any damage. 9 times out of 10 it is a loose connection. If you don't want to fork out 10 grand for a camera, it's a good idea to go through your boxes periodically - with the power off! and tighten all the lugs. Heating/cooling and vibrations over time are the main culprits. For most circuits annually is sufficient...
