The high resistance connection acts just like an electric heater. That is how a heating element is made, pass a current through a resistive medium and it heats up.

Shut off the power and replace the neutral buss with a new one. clean up the end of the wire good, put a no- nox type gel on the connection and put it back together. Make sure the lug you buy is made for a copper to aluminum connection.
