West Central WI | started calving yesterday jim, 3 total so far. This weather is defiantly a struggle, the cold mostly, a warm rain wouldn't be as bad. I built a calf shelter out of big square bales for them. I was so surprised how willing those calves are to going in them. I will defiantly build some more permanent/movable calf shelters for next year, and calve in may maybe. I actually AI'd and put the bulls in a week or so later last summer due to extreme heat around the 4th of july, glad i did, but probably will push it back a couple more weeks maybe. we'll see. Herefords are looking good Jim! | |
