Subject: Re: Refuge in the Bag - Ed Winkle

To answer your question about why take the chance that 5% of the seed may not perform in a RIB blend? The answer is pretty simple... In the heart of Illinois and Iowa corn country, rootworm is a major problem. Two rootworm modes of action on 95% of my corn in exchange for 5% refuge is a no brainer for me. Who is to say that the 5% is a huge risk? I'm worried about the 95%. I'll roll the dice on 5%.

To further expand on your yield results.... Where did you see non gmo double and triple the yield of GMO last year? Are those the same hybrids, traited vs non traited? Was this a one time deal? I would think that yields this drastic would make the newspapers. Double and triple the yield seems like something is going on other than the corn.
