Don't see why you should have any trouble turning a 12 row planter with a mfwd. I turn a 6 row planter with a mfwd, I like 30 rows for headlands or "end rows" as you call them, more for the combine than the planter. I can turn a 6 cylinder mfwd on 24 rows without causing a problem, you just have to make a lightbulb shaped turn. I don't usually use the brakes either.
