I haven't ever heard of anyone planting corn end-rows last. I have seen guys with a soybean drill do them last and the reason for that was everytime you lifted the drill out of the ground you would broadcast a few beans on top of the ground. When you drilled the end rows last, it would cover many of those beans up. For corn, there would be too much guessing on where the end row starts and ends and would either have skips, or too much overplant.
