Subject: Ammonium Sulfate question

S IL
Years ago dad had trials up to 1000 lbs when the fertilizer was cheap, and the more applied the better the corn yields (esp on the lighter soils). We haven't used it in decades, and I want to try it again. What is your opinion of the sweet spot on the amount to apply as a pre plant to corn? We could use the S anyway. I recall someone on here saying they applied 300 lbs for the N availability later in the growing season. Farm in S IL, with both black and light soils. Can there be too much S?
