In the early days of RR soybeans Pioneer had bought from Monsanto for a mere $500,000 the rights to use the RR 1 gene forever.

But when DuPont came in and acquired Pioneer that negated the $500 K deal. Otherwise Pioneer could either have made a fortune from tech fees or it could have passed the savings on to its customers or maybe even some of both, but it never happened.

In my opinion Pioneer was a much better company before DuPont took it over.
