northwest tennessee | <p>It depends on how thick your fescue is. If it is pretty thick the orchard grass wont have much of a chance. I would concentrate on clovers more and spin it on a small area then turn the sheep on it and keep them there for a while to tromp it in. On white clover I would sow 2-3 pounds and orchard grass in an existing stand maybe 6-8 pounds per acre. The grass needs to be eaten down pretty close before sowing too when you sow this way. I would take some soil tests and see where I was at there too and you may need lime. You can buy pelleted lime and spread yourself to bring your ph up if needed. This will go along way in getting more production out of your grass .You talk about red clover and that would be good too at about 5-6 pounds per acre. You could sow annual ryegrass in the fall and tromp in for some fall early spring grazing.</p>
