SW Iowa, Clarinda | Late summer timber pasture here last year.....had a couple cows get pink eye with no corral or headshoot within a mile or two...and mostly green corn fields between. So we fed cubes near the trees with the truck...tied off rope to bumper and then pulled cow over to a tree to retie another rope.........after tied off to tree....heeled with other rope and re-attached to bumper....now cow usually goes down and can be treated while fairly im-mobile.....
I wouldn't recommend it.....but it worked in a pinch......
Note: lightweight leather gloves are a must unless you want bad rope burn.....
From now on I'm feeding more vitamin A in summer......and trying to keep the flies off the cows as much as possible.....This seems to keep pink-eye away. Also keeping the good mineral program on the cows year around.
