Subject: Re: Anybody ever rope a cow.....

North Central Kansas
We roped one out in a stalk field years ago before I had my own cows and was helping a friend. Pulled a big old simmental calf out of the cow. We tied her to the grapple on the magnum and used the feed truck and the bucket to form the alleyway. As soon as we had the calf pulled we put it in the bucket and pulled the quick release on the rope and headed for the barn a half mile away. The cow beat us to the barn. I have never seen a cow do that. Usually they stay where the calf was born and won't leave and get all pissy.

We roped her off the back of the pickup, and used the tractor for the tie down. Was a lot younger and dumber then.

Glad it all worked out. Sometimes you have to do what needs to be done.
