puts a dead end on the dam's hair coat.
black cows carrying a bull calf generally are "off" black color due to the dead ends on the hair ( kinda dead reddish generally ).
black cows carrying hiefers are coal slick black.

afore works the same on every color ( every species too ), btw.

don't know why it would matter what sex calf a cow is carrying at this point.
they'll have what they have.
