nw MN
During water softener regeneration, the exchange media in the filter will backflush with fresh water, then the softener will draw a salt solution from the brine tank, which removes and replaces the calcium and magnesium that is stuck to the resin with sodium, then backflush again taking any remaining salt and minerals. Most of the salt that is used should remain attached to the resin, and a very small amount actually goes into the rinse water. Most of the salt goes into the softened water.

The rinse water ends up being no saltier than your pee, which you put plenty of into your septic the way it is. I wouldn't worry about it if that is the easiest way to drain it.
