central - east central Minnesota - | johndeere430u - 12/2/2012 17:21 How would I combine the dormers? Have the front and back sloped like a shed and but one dormer in the middle of the roof line?
Hard for me to discribe, but here is a poor drawing . . . . The main roof line would be a 7 or 8/12 pitch, Built out of that pitched roof line, would be the dormer. The dormer can be as wide as you would like (with in cost reason), It's just a matter of engineering the gerter truss for the load span. I plan to have a dormer on each side of the roof - about 12ft wide. The shed roof is less expensive to build and labor to build it, then the peaked roof for a dormer. Shed roofs were common in the settleing days of this country. Lot'ta cabins or older hunting lodges would have shed roofs. Hope the pic is a bit more discriptive, those would be windows in the front of the dormer drawn in . . . . . roof of the shed roof is less slope, then the garage pitch roof.
