Subject: Re: Wheat planted back to back

West Tennessee
I'm sure someone has something scientific but beans planted into burned stubble almost always come up quicker than beans planted into the straw. IMO it probably releases the nutrients that are otherwise tied up in straw. I'll admit I'm wrong if confronted with science but from our experience loss of nutrients are not a problem. Burning up half the county is my biggest concern. A wheat field fire is really something if you've never been around one. It roars and creates it's own winds. One last thing, the guy I told you plants wheat and beans every year says that it's like putting out a ton of lime (burning the field). Take that for what it's worth. He's a smart guy and a person should always listen to him but consider the source, apply your own knowledge and experience IMO.
