Northern Illinois
once again you miss the point. You seem to think that the union dictated what the Big 3 must pay the union employees. LaBron James makes $17,545,000 playing basketball for the Miami Heat. Are the Miami Heat obligated to pay James over $17 million because he demanded that they do or because they agreed to pay him that money?

The Detriot automakers AGREED to the compensation package for the unions.

Yes there is no doubt that wages were/are a major if not the reason the Big 3 declined but to insist that it is entirely the fault of the UAW is stupid. Management of the Big 3 agreed to the contracts. Same thing everywhere. People complain about teachers salaries here in Illinois. School Boards approve the contracts with teachers. So don't say it is the teachers unions that are terrible instead lay the blame where it belongs and that is on the local school boards for approving the contracts with the teachers. If you are a farmer or other small business owner and you need to hire labor and that labor cost is eating all your profit due to the costs associated with that labor is it the workers fault you are not making money due to the cost of labor or is it your fault for agreeing to pay your labor what they are making?
