Northern Illinois
arguing that pensions are the downfall of the Big 3 in Detriot is a poor arguement imo. Someone is going to pay for the workers to live in retirement. If the Big 3 did not fund the pensions then who is going to fund them? Well let the workers you may say. Well that is fine but then the companies would need to pay the workers a higher wage so that they could have the $$ to fund their retirement. Some may say well just let Washington pay for their retirement well that costs everyone of us more. If people are going to have a retirement then someone needs to fund it. Just because the UAW negociated it into the workers wage does not mean that their labor costs would be lower without the pensions.

The problem is we are living longer not that pensions were included in a workers compensation.

And yes I am as conservative as they come but the facts are someone needed to put money into a retirement account and we are living longer.
