Subject: Re: Cereal Rye Before Corn Burndown/Preemerge

NW Central Ohio
...I spray wheat that is about 12 inches tall with glyphosate...and have been using some simazine with it for burndown. I think I might add some generic acetachlor...and then come back when the corn is 7-10" tall and spray with Harness Xtra to control the second flush of weeds. It seems that my giant foxtail and nutsedge are getting ahead of me without a grass herbicide in the burndown....and I can't kill the size of grass I need to kill at post-emerge time with just a pound of Atrazine and crop oil. Another thing that is starting to cause me problems is fall panicum. Acetachlor doesn't have any control on it....so I'm seeing it creep in more and more. Going to have to start finding some different techniques to control these weeds....
