If what your told you need is what you end up with,,,,has anyone told you your stool "MAY" not fit. But rock instead. NOT every stool will set right that way.

I was told to do that first floor I ceramic tiled,,,spent a LONG time and aggravation grinding out edge so it sat solid

Now I build the floor to what you have now,,,works every time with a number 10 ring of wax

Everyone previous here was right,,,edge of porcelain stool supports weight on bigger circle on the floor structure

That said there are two kinds of cast stacks(Iron plumbing tree)
1. those that are leaking
2. those that will be leaking sooner than later
My advice is take it all out now,open small wall and re drywall if necessary,,,,ALL the way thru the roof and down as low as you can go. If you have horizontal pipe,especially 2 inch or smaller sink drains,,,they are plugged up anyway.
