In our little corner of heaven, if you want to eat in the middle of the day, it is very difficult to find a spot that is NOT a bar.
Without serving food, most of them would not survive in business.

I eat at bars during the day pretty often. Where my some of my farm ground is you are a 20+ min drive from a McDonalds's or some thing similar. Eating cold sandwiches gets pretty old really fast. I even take clients to bars from lunch from time to time. (oh the humanity)
