Yes, it is true!
My Dad did a lot of custom farming. Some farmers would bring out a bottle around 11.30 am for a pre dinner drink. Then at 3ish they would take a beer break.
Generally my Dad or his employees would not do that while working but if the farmer offered.........
In our family it is customary to always have a drink before dinner (noon meal) and to have drinks at night after supper and coffee is over.
