Adelaide Hills, South Australia | It's always interesting to watch people who have never really worked with cattle walk into the dairy or into a herd, and the fear they have. When you grow up around cattle and work with them every day sometimes we foolishly forget the dangers of them. I have been to hospital twice thanks to bulls. I remember when I was about 5 and a Holstein cow got me down and rolled me around. I was out in the pasture with my Father, can't remember why, and this cow just took to me and knocked me over. I remember the blue, green, blue, green as she rolled me over. (Much slower colour change than a motorbike crash or even a Bull.) I yelled out and my Father turns around, yells "get out", the cow backs away and he says "what are you doin' laying down there!" He didn't believe she knocked me over, but we did go home early for lunch though. |
