I understand you are trying to learn them not to use the clutch.
On one of my trips over the big pond, as I was visiting my brother I took a rental car at the airport.
Got behind the wheel, ignited, put in D drive, reved up the engine, did 20 feet, .... and kissed the steering wheel! began from start up, .... and did it again! Then my brother said: put your damn left foot on the rest and keep it there! I was too used to a mechanic gear shift and kept wanting to shift gears! Well, putting my left foot on the rest helped for the remaining of my 3 week stay :)

May be it helps your drivers too.
