Subject: RE: Crop conditions

Up in the NW corner of the state of IA its all over -- by Spencer on the sand it looked tough even with cooler weather --- keep in mind these areas had standing water 3 weeks ago -- its just that soil. In the heavier dirt down by Royal (very good dirt) looks good - didnt see stress during the heat. Im just a touch to the NW of royal - similar dirt but not quite as heavy - home farm looks awesome - doug last night after I freaked out and sawforecast -- still lhad some moisture down 8 in -- and theres 3 ft of black dirt like that underneath so I think we'll be ok if its not hot-- not alot though - came out as a big brick but was atleast damp. On another farm the eroded area is basically dead (less than 1%) rest looks very good - it is COC but seems to be taking it pretty well. But I'm very nervous about how we're pollenating -- was in a field last friday with tassels out and didnt even get a tickle in my nose -- pollen shed was affected by the heat-- but if we pollenate well and catch a good 1-2 in we've got a good crop going on. But lots of barbie doll length silks -- and thats not good. We should know about pollenation by end of the week on the early stuff.
