Subject: Crop conditions

Central Iowa
Here in central Iowa it's "what a difference a day makes". The crops really recovered yesterday and this morning in my travels stuff is no longer showing stress. I have maintained that I believe the oppressive heat was doing all the damage and that moisture wasn't a huge concern. Obviously we could use a rain but it is not a dire situation. I do believe damage has been done but we are hanging on here. We are entering the critical ear filling period for corn and beans will be moving into the reproductive phase in about 2 weeks. There is no doubt we need a rain to finish this crop out but I still feel good about our prospects. Not trying to rub it in just giving a snapshot of our backyard.
