Mrs Geargrinder here - we're on our second front load - first one was a Maytag Neptune - had lots of problems with but company was pretty good about out of warranty service as there were many known problems. Second washer is an Amana - looks just like the Maytag and might be a Maytag with a different name. Have had for four years now and knock on wood only problem has been when I overloaded with rugs (geargrinder could fix it). I think it gets work clothes clean - we have livestock and people who like to get into lots of grease and comes out cleaner than the Maytag top load I used to have. it is the most used appliance in our house! Do have to leave the front door open and don't forget a load in the washer too long - gets a smell so might have to rewash - use very little HE laundry detergent in most loads. I use the light setting for the majority of our clothes and takes about 45 minutes.
