My father-in-law was the first on the scene when it happened and he just told me that the upper cap that holds the ball of the shifter handle down was loose when he got there and so he tightened it up to try to fix the problem. Before I go any further into it I am wondering if that could have been the problem that caused it to lock into two gears. Any thoughts? TIA
