Your 66% return is 100% dependent upon the ups and downs of those returns....      There is no right or wrongness in this, its a matter of what you want to do with your money.    Its not "stupid" to participate, or not to participate in 401k for ones "savings" was my intent of my original post.       If one has the ability to pick individual stocks with success, by all means, get on board with the 401.....  If one farms on the side, the last decade in Ag without a doubt has been the clear winner for investment....  

Its my personality disfunction that dictates I need something I can feel, see, and own, when it comes to investing.  So far its worked out wonderfully....  Tomorrows a different day, will see how it works out.
