small town Iowa....
I am not a farmer. I have a farm related job, and a fairly good job, After I made my last house payment, I decided to
put half of my paycheck into savings. It seemed to take forever to save $100K. The second $100K came much faster.
As did the third and so on. I will never have $1 million, but I think I played the game right.
Us city slickers don't have a farm to sell for retirement, So I am trying to save as much as possible so I can live comfortably in my old age.
Yes. I do the max on my 401K. It's free money.
But, I will say, as I was saving my money, lots of my friends were on a 15 year spending spree.
I don't have a smart phone. Just a Plain Jane cell phone. I don't have a house 4 times bigger than I need.
I own a nice, modest PAID FOR home. I don't have a 2012 4 door F150. I have a PAID FOR older F150.
I don't pay $75.00 a month for satellite TV.
I can do as I like today and not worry about making payments.
I work with a person my age that will never see daylight financially.
If he has a dollar, he spends it.
The trouble with most Americans is, they want it all now. Sorry, you can't do it.
Most people haven't a clue how to manage money.
