I am curious about a capital gain on a house of over $500,000.
How many houses sell for much over $500,000 let alone enough over to have that kind of gain?
Even if you owned it for 50 years that would be quite a gain wouldn't it?
Do they have a date that starts the capital gain?
Seems like quite a job to go back and establish what each house was when someone bought it unless relatively recently.
