central - east central Minnesota -

garvo - 3/25/2012 11:56 18 inchs isnt really tight till they get bigger-at 18inchs everyone can gather at the bunk-have some with 24inch's and have always been real comfortable there !Lots of cattle feeders pushing 9-12inch for space?Just showing what I do for spacing, can get by feeding that 325# calf next to its penmate that weighs 600#

Thanks,
To make sure I understand, the buck space rule - you allow 18inchs for each animal to eat ?
So, 26ft of feeder/bunk will support 17or18 feeders?
When I was younger and up untill Dad died (early twenty's), our beef operation wasn't confined / barned, but open pasture / barn yard and bunk space / feeding space was plenty - as compared to what I learn here . . . Thanks for sharing your knowledge / experence . . . . .
