Iowa | Save your money and the big depreciation hit and buy a used one. Didn't you mention here you were wanting to build a house? bad place for $$ is a new car. No offense, just my thoughts.
Good you are savvy enough to dicker, now be savvy enough to walk away completely and look for a used one privately. In smallish communities, banks usually know of cars for sale, and not always repossessions-- they know of trustee cars from estates, little old lady cars when she can no longer drive, etc.
