On our front steer 2 wd tractors,front steer spra-coupe and Steiger articulated 4 wd tractors,placing the antenna at the front of the hood makes it easiest to keep the light bar on the line and straight rows. I have experimented with the antenna on the front/rear of the cab,or center of the tractor,and find the machines nose can be way off the line before the center to rear mounted antenna detects it. It seems that where the nose of the machine goes,everything else follows. It might be different if I needed to keep the rear of the machine exactly on track to deal with row planting or cultivating,but this is not the case with my crops.
