Riley County Kansas | I'm a farmhand and I get 14.00 an hour I can run anything that we have. I take care of all the cows from vaccinations to pulling calves and calving out all the heifers at 2:00 in the morning. Sometimes it doesn't seem like enough but when I step back and look at all the other things we are offered I feel very fortunate. I love the people I work for and I'm able to have 30 cows of my own and farm about 170 acres with my best friend who I also have the privilege of working with everyday. Our health insurance is paid for and have a SEP IRA retirement. They treat me like a son. Its not always about the money, its about being included and not treated like just a farmhand, and having the opportunity to use equipment to farm rented ground or have cows. | |
