Central Neb.
We are just thinking about getting an employee and that has been good question on our farm. It seems to me that paying salary would work best in our case. We were thinking of paying him based on a 60 hour week and make sure he only puts in 40-50 hours most of the year and then be there as much as we need him during planting and harvest. Health ins. is something else we are looking at for him. The guy we have talked to is willing to work whatever hours we need during the busy times but wants to be flexible during calving season. I guess that is one reason we thought salary would work the best.
