Eastern Kansas | You know, I'm in the same boat here. I'm a young guy just getting started. I've got about a hundred tillable acres that I own, and I've planted conventional till beans the last three years. I obviously work off the farm, and so notill would work better for me because I shouldn't have to spend as much time in the cab. However, I can't risk a disaster of a crop, because like all of us I've got a tight budget. I've averaged 25 bushel beans and I know I need to rotate. I've got a large notill farmer in the area who will pull on my anhydrous and dry with his notill rig at custom rates. So, do I go ahead and burndown in the spring and go notill, or do I chisel and go conventional? Also, would I chisel before we pull on the anhydrous or after? | |
