At the moment hay supply is limited and demand is high = price is going to be high...
Complaining that they would have sold the hay for less last year because there was less demand, so therefore they should sell it for that price this year ignores reality...
They won't sell it for less when there are reported sales going for the higher price...

The same mechanism is in effect for you cattle growers...
Meat is low right now because folks are dumping cattle to slaughter since they can't feed them...
Now, next year the cattle growers that survive will find prices jumping because these surplus cattle are gone and supply is now tight...
So, will I see those folks bitching about this years feed prices posting on here next year that they insisted on selling their cattle for this years price because that is what they sold for this year?
